Marrakech has 4 distinct areas for you to choose your hotel from when seeking the best location to stay in Marrakech.

The Marrakech Medina hostels

The Marrakech Medina is the old walled and historic part of the city. Located inside this centre of the city is such popular locations as Djemaa el Fna, the main square in the Medina, where it all happens. Surrounded by shops, Cafes, The Katoubia Mosque, parks and Souks, the Medina is ideal if you want to be in the centre of it all, near to all the sights and action and have minimal need for taxis and transportation.

Guillez Marrakech hostels

Guillez is known as "The New City", filled with high class shops, restaurants and european style Cafe's. If you want to be in the location amongst the Chic of Marrakech, a young, vibrant feel to this area of the city, and within a 10 minute walk to the Djemaa el Fna, then this city location of Guillez is the place for you.

Hivernage Marrakech hostels

Hivernage and the surrounding area is home to many of the large international and home grown Hotel chains. Primarily consisting of large Hotels, if you desire a Hotel with Swimming pool, Bar, Restaurants and concierge services, then Hivernage should be your consideration. The Medina and Guillez are both about 10 minutes walk from most areas of Hivernage. Hivernage is also the home of come Chic cafe's and restaurants and Casino's and nightclubs. 
The Medina, Guillez and Hivernage are all located approx 20 minutes taxi ride from Marrakech Menara Airport (RAK).

The Marrakech Palmerie Hotels

The Marrakech Palmerie is the outlying area of Marrakech City. It can take up to 20 minutes to reach your Hotel in the Palmerie from the Medina, Guillez and Hivernage and up to 40 minutes from the Airport. Be warned, if your hotel in the Palmerie does not have a courtesy shuttle bus ( or you miss it!), then you could be facing a taxi ride fare of up to 300 Dirham. If you want to stay in a Specific hotel, or one of the large resort styled 4 or 5 star hotels, often in a secluded and rural location, then the Palmerie is the right location for your choice.
